Dear Dean-<br>
<br>
<i>The Visualization Toolkit</i> textbook is mostly a theory/textbook
book. Not only that, it is hard to buy right now because Prentice-Hall
has run out of them. (The authors are currently in the process of
identifying a new publisher...it will become available again soon.)<br>
<br>
<i>The VTK User's Guide</i> has more information about Python, although
it is not extensive as you might like. The bulk of the examples in this
book are written in C++ and Tcl. (There is almost a direct translation
between these languages and Python, however.)<br>
<br>
My recommendation is get the <i>VTK User's Guide</i> and any questions
that aren't answered there the folks on this list can help you with (and
don't forget to search the archives).<br>

I see that there is "The Visualization
Toolkit" 2nd Edition book<br>
written by Schroeder, Martin, and Lorensen available
to new users.<br>
It states on the cover, "Build your own
applications with C++, Tcl, or Java."<br>
<br>
I am working at a Python shop! Will this book cover
useful applications<br>
built with Python as well or do you recommend another
VTK book or document<br>
which emphasizes VTK and Python?<br>
<br>
Thanks for any advice.<br>
<br>
Best regards,<br>
Dean<br>
