<DIV><FONT face=Calibri></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Calibri>I'm a new user, trying to understand the Visualization
Toolkit. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Calibri></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Calibri>I purchased a copy of the latest edition of the book and
downloaded the software from the web. However, I need to be able
to play around with code to better understand your classes, etc .

<DIV><FONT face=Calibri>I recently purchased a new laptop which runs Microsoft
Vista. I was successfully able to globally build VTK there (using Visual
Studio 9 (I have not successfully built a separate project which accesses the
shared libraries yet due to problems getting cmake to work in a local
environment)).</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Calibri></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Calibri>From what I have understood, it is not possible to
make links to Java/TCL without building with a cygwin compiler/linker on a
windows platform. Since this is my final goal I decided to download
</FONT><FONT face=Calibri>the latest compiler from Cygwin (as well as whatever
else I thought I needed)... </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Calibri></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Calibri>However, when I try to use cmake/make, I am getting an
error in .../vtk_5.4.2/Rendering/vtkTesting.cxx that I am not sure how to
fix. I've included a jpg file with the build error from the bash shell
window (I can't cut-and paste from it). It's executing some sort of macro
which doesn't seem to have been interpreted correctly. Am I missing a
compile variable (or some other magic) which will fix this?</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Calibri></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Calibri>Thanks</FONT></DIV>
