BTW: Lynx&#39; example is a prime reason why having a special &quot;color&quot; field is not required and a poor design decision.  The real solution here is using a scalar generated by another filter with a real physical meaning to color the data.  The current VTK setup is specifically designed to facilitate this and to allow you to change among scalars during data display.  I use this capability quite frequently.<div>
