No problem when don't first read a trace file.
Version 2.4.4 compiled from source. FC4. Pentium 4.

This sounds like an important bug. I am increasing it's priority and adding SNL to make sure it gets fixed before 2.6.

Workaround: Add the file extension (.jpg, .mpg, ...) to the file name. This is not needed and the extension is added automatically if a trace file has not been read.
