Summary0009366: make pipeline browser link to active view more explicit
DescriptionNew users often confused about the fact that pipeline browser show visibility of items in only the active view. One way to make link more explicit is to have multiple columns of eye icons, one per view, and then give the active view's column a blue border.

Another suggestion is to change eye icon to reflect whatever active representation type is - outline would get box, surface some polygonal icon, volume, some fuzzy cube, etc, or even to be a snapshot of the thing.

    We talked about some of this way back when we were first designing the ParaView 3 interface. In particular, we considered the idea of having multiple eyeballs for each entry in the pipeline browser. In the end we discounted this idea because there is no good way to associate which eyeball goes to which view. In essence, the result is worse than what we have because we go from an interface that encourages mistakes through inattention to one that encourages mistakes through confusion.

Placing icons in the browser that give cues to which view is active sounds fine, but I'm not sure how effective this would be, especially when you have multiple views of the same type.

A possibility is to highlight the background for the row in the pipeline browser for sources being shown in the active view.
