VTK Examples Baseline Widgets TestSeedWidget.png

This example demonstrates how to use vtkSeedWidget, which generates (seeds) points to be placed in the scene in the locations where the user clicks.

The points can then be used for operations like connectivity, segmentation, and region growing. For an example using a custom callback where such operations can be assembled, see VTK/Examples/Cxx/Widgets/SeedWidgetWithCustomCallback

Download and Build SeedWidget

Click here to download SeedWidget. and its CMakeLists.txt file.

Once the tarball SeedWidget.tar has been downloaded and extracted,

cd SeedWidget/build
  • If VTK is installed:
cmake ..
  • If VTK is not installed but compiled on your system, you will need to specify the path to your VTK build:
cmake -DVTK_DIR:PATH=/home/me/vtk_build ..

Build the project:

make

and run it:

./SeedWidget

WINDOWS USERS PLEASE NOTE: Be sure to add the VTK bin directory to your path. This will resolve the VTK dll's at run time.
