[vtkusers] Lighting and textures

Hi all

Is there a way to use vtk to calculate the new colour intensity values 
for an object, given a texture, and given a particular light source?
I'd like to use the new colour intensity values on the surface, for some 
other calculations, and not necessarily render the object+texture+lighting
each time.
