[vtk-developers] FW: VTK - 100 1% improvements

Hi all,

 

In my view VTK is great! As a finite element analyst, it is the morphine
to my visualisation problems.

 

However, looking back over recent years, I have not been able to
complete my apps without minor additions to the VTK api. VTK has moved
on big time since version 4 but my perception is that the small, 1%,
improvements may get overlooked. Cumulatively these can have a
noticeable impact on the richness of the functionality.

 

I was wondering whether this forum could be used for fast tracking some
of the small changes into the development version. Something along the
lines -

 

1. Outline of what you want to achieve (just in case it can be done
already).

 

2. Suggested changes to the api.

 

3. Approval/decline of the changes by Kitware (to maintain api
consistency).

 

4. Independent review and testing by a buddy (volunteer from the list).

 

5. Fast track through bug tracker.

 

It might seem a bit formal but if some of the minnows can get through I
don't think it's a big obstacle.

 

Can this work?
